Abdominal Ultrasound

This ultrasound generated image of the liver shows a markedly distended proximal hepatic vein (HV) and caudal vena cava to the right of the vein. This picture is typical of an increase in hydrostatic pressure in the hepatic veins and vena cava and so is typical of a dog with congestive right heart failure. GB, gall bladder.
