Case 12Hepatic Ultrasound
This view of the liver show markedly distended hepatic veins (HV) characteristic of increased systemic venous pressure from congestive right heart failure. The right atrial pressure or central venous pressure is probably in the 10 to 15 mm Hg range. Although this dog's hepatic veins and liver were markedly enlarged, it surprisingly did not have any ascites. Instead it developed pleural effusion as its manifestation of right heart failure.
