Why Refer Patients to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital?
You, your clients and patients, and the veterinarians in training at this hospital benefit from your referrals to our faculty and residents. Referrals continue to be the foundation for the continuous development of this school and hospital. As we celebrate more than 50 years of teaching excellence, we acknowledge your contributions to our success. As part of an internationally renowned Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, our faculty and residents have access to fully staffed, state-of-the-art laboratories, diagnostic imaging resources, and therapeutic modalities, as well as to the latest research findings in veterinary medicine and patient care. We want to share with you our most current knowledge and resources to ensure the highest quality care for your clients' animals - here and in your facility.
We recognize that the success of your practice depends upon the relationship you build with your clients. The same is true with the VMTH. Veterinarians who make professional patient referrals to us are our most important clients. Just as you build your client relationship through communications and follow-up care, the VMTH is committed to building a strong relationship with you through communication.
When you refer a patient to the VMTH, we will provide you with timely information on the animal's status, a copy of the discharge instructions given to your client, and a full summary of the visit, including tests performed and diagnoses, within 10 days of the patient's discharge. You will also have access to your patients' clinical visit information to include diagnostic reports and pharmaceuticals dispensed, via the Web (password protected) if you elect to take advantage of this new technology.
Our goal is to communicate with you clearly, promptly and completely so that, as a team, we provide the care your clients expect. You will be given the opportunity to evaluate our communications during your referrals. As Director of the VMTH, I join with our Associate Directors in inviting you to use our resources to assist you in developing your practice, and in providing the best possible care to your patients.
