About Us

We provide computing support to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, of the University of California at Davis. We develop, maintain, and operate VMACS, an integrated hospital information management system serving the clinical, administrative, research, and teaching functions of the VMTH.

We support about 600 networked computing devices in the VMTH area and about 1000 users.

If you wish to access online help or offer suggestions about the VMACS system please click Support from any VMACS screen or use our feedback system to send us a message (login required).

VMACS

VMACS (Veterinary Medical and Administrative Computer System) is a comprehensive HIS (Hospital Information System) which is used throughout the VMTH for case management, laboratory results reporting, billing, teaching, and research. VMACS is based on MUMPS, a highly efficient and scaleable distributed processing multiuser client/server database technology.

The most outstanding aspect of VMACS is the high level of efficiency, integration and accessibility of information that it provides to students, staff and faculty in bringing all VMTH medical and administrative data together in a single system. This has a profound impact on the daily operation of the VMTH as well as the educational experience received by our students.

Wireless Access

The VMTH currently provides wireless network access throughout the primary VMTH building as well as the Vet-Med 2 facility. Access is controlled by the campus Moobilenet network. Visit wireless.ucdavis.edu for instructions on registering your device and for logging in to get access. Visit VetPDA for information on what services and utilities are available for PDA users.
