Teaching Program
This Web site provides information on the teaching program in Dentistry & Oral Surgery of the Department of Surgical and Radiological Sciences of the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis.
 
Courses
The veterinary dentistry curriculum for DVM-students offered at UC Davis has three components: (1) a 2.0-unit (20-hour) didactic lecture course; (2) three 4-hour practical sessions; and (3) a 2-week clinical rotation. All three components are part of the elective curriculum.
 
Facilities
The didactic lecture course is taught in a traditional lecture room and the laboratory course in a dedicated eight-dental unit laboratory facility. The clinical rotation takes place in the Michael R. Floyd Dental Operatory, a four-unit dental clinic within the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.
 
Faculty
The faculty of the Dentistry & Oral Surgery program consists of Dr. Frank J.M. Verstraete and Dr. Cecilia Gorrel.
