Inquiries addressed include proper diet selection for healthy animals, nutraceuticals, weight-loss programs and dietary management of common disease processes. An emerging problem has been the increasing popularity of feeding home-cooked diets obtained from the Internet or popular press. It is not uncommon for these diets to be nutritionally inadequate to meet the animal's dietary requirements. The Nutrition Support Service analyzes and formulates computer-generated recipes for home-cooked diets. A majority of the telephone consultations are done at no charge; however there are fees for customized, computer-generated recipes and requests involving in-depth analysis and research. The charges are as follows:
The Nutrition Support Service can be accessed by contacting
the VMTH at (530) 752-1387 (referring veterinarians) or (530) 752-1393
(clients). Most calls are returned within 48 hours, except on weekends.
The Nutrition Support Service is happy to address client inquiries,
however requests for computer generated home-cooked diets or questions
involving nutritional intervention in patients with health concerns
need to submitted by the patient's attending veterinarian. |
